Cheryl Carter, LICSW

Clinician

My name is Cheryl Carter. I’ve been an LICSW therapist for over 20 years. Besides being with my family, offering hope and comfort to hurting people is the most fulfilling thing that I do. I have worked with adults from many backgrounds, and problem areas, utilizing several modalities including Solution Focused, Client Centered, Strength Based, Relational, CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am an optimist and use much humor and lightheartedness in sessions when appropriate. I have been referred to as “quirky, funny, lively, engaged, and spontaneous.” I absolutely love what I do. My specialties are Women’s Issues, including Depression, Anxiety, Infertility, Adoption, Foster Care, Perinatal and Post-Partum Depression. I also enjoy working with couples and, as the mother of a transgendered young adult, I have done much work within the LGBTQ community, including former volunteer work with the Boston Area AIDS Action Committee. I also work with male clients, several of whom work in technical fields. Let’s make therapy transformative and enjoyable!
